I AM CURRENTLY AT CAPACITY SO AM UNABLE TO TAKE ON ANY NEW CLIENTS AT THIS TIME
My name is Anne-Marie Appleton, MCMA, this is my dog lover daughter and little helper, Emily and my two faithful Border Collie's, Branston and Pickle!
Having spent so many years over my lifetime either living or working with dogs, it made perfect sense to provide a safe place for other doggy friends to join mine in play days, overnight boarding and walks.
I also have a good size, fully enclosed garden, including a sensory area. I also have plenty of space to play indoors on those typical English horrible weather days!
I am fully licenced and insured too as well as a clear DBS check.
Apart from my many decades of being a dog owner and working with dogs, I am always actively learning about dogs and keeping updated with new research and discovery.
I have also completed the following courses:
Level 3 Diploma in canine care, welfare and behaviour.
Diploma's in Canine Nutrition, Canine First Aid, Canine Business, Canine Communication.
I have also completed courses to achieve certificate's in Working with Dogs, Introduction to Agility and Pet First Aid and Dog Training Method's for Pulling on a Lead and Recall Training. (These can be viewed under the Policies and Qualifications Heading).
I understand that your dog is a member of your family and you love them very much and I feel the same way too, but sometimes you need to leave them. Your dog or dogs will be treated as family too, the same as I treat my dogs, therefore, they will have the run of the ground floor of my house and garden.
I have plenty of forms to complete by you so I will be aware of any allergies, medical conditions, fears, dietary needs or anything at all that is relevant, as making sure your dog is as happy, safe and comfortable is my top priority.
I have a good size property with two garden areas. The patio area is our sensory garden with different smells and textures to explore.
There is a water feature, artificial grass and decking to run around on as well as a sand pit and paddling pool for the summer months.
A tunnel and different levels and playhouse will also be available, (coming soon).
The gardens are secured all around with 6ft fencing with bolted gates for their safety.
There are many quiet areas in the house, accessible at all times should your dog wish to chill out on their own, with plenty of cosy bedding to choose from.
All indoor and outdoor spaces are safe and secure and all toys and equipment are regularly checked, cleaned and replaced if needed.
I offer mental stimulation as well as physical, (perfect for those dogs who are unable to go out for walks or exercise), We have snuffle mats, puzzle toys and many other toys to provide hours of fun and challenge the brain.
I am also happy to implement any special requirements or requests you may have, if it's something I am able to do.
Clean water will be available all day and every day with multiple water bowls inside and outside.
Dry dog treats will be provided to go in puzzle toys and as rewards, (subject to approval from you first of course!)
Dogs coming to day care that have breakfast should have only a light breakfast at least an hour before arriving as they will be running around and playing the minute they arrive! Overnight boarders will be fed twice a day, once in the morning and again in the evening. You will bring your dogs favourite food along with instructions of quantities.
I know that you will miss your pup terribly, so for your peace of mind I am happy to send regular photo's, video's and updates of your dog so you can see how they are settling in and having fun playing with their new friends.
You are welcome to call or text at any time to ask how your dog is doing and I can send a picture or video on request, (preferably not over night though as we don't want to disturb the sleeping pups!)
I live in an area with fields and woodland close by so I can provide a varied walk with many different areas and smells to explore.
Depending on the weather and the dogs needs I will provide two walks on lead, a day.
During adverse weather, when it really isn't safe to go out for walks, I have plenty of toys so we can have fun and games to provide mental, as well as physical stimulation.
I have policies and procedures covering every eventuality in detail, (a licencing requirement). There are quite a lot of them but please take the time to read them, as they will give a detailed understanding of how I operate and how I will deal with any situation that arises. It will give you peace of mind.
If you have any questions regarding these policies and procedures, please do not hesitate to ask me about them.
I am always happy to listen to any feedback or suggestions you may have, in fact, I encourage it! You may do something with your dog and think it would work well in the day care/boarding environment or you may think you have a better way of doing something, please do feel free to talk to me about them.
A sensory garden stimulates your dogs brain, activates natural canine instinct and builds confidence.
We have the calming sounds of a water feature and pond fountain, (plus water play in the summer months).
Soothing musical sounds from wind chimes.
Physical stimulation is just as important as mental stimulation. A sand pit with toys and treats buried in it, (coming soon). There are platforms and tunnels to run around in too, (coming soon)
We have different textures for under foot, artificial grass, which can be disinfected and hosed down.
Composite decking, hard wearing and easy to keep clean, which can be disinfected and hosed down.
Slabs also provide different textures, again, which can be disinfected and hosed down.
